BiCi Co. Hosts Summer Happy Hour for Volunteers & Members

The Center’s BiCi Co. program hosted a Summer Happy Hour for its faithful volunteers and members. There was a great turnout at the event and they successfully tested the bike corral in front of the building. Many thanks to all those who attended!
Mayor Bronin Awards Summer Youth Employment Participant with A Special Gift

The City of Hartford and Capital Workforce Partners announced that Nayeli Alvarez, a participant in The Capital Workforce Partners Summer Youth Employment & Learning Program, was the recipient of a Kindle for her participation in the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ DollarWise Summer Youth Contest. Nayeli held an internship with The Center this summer and was one of 77 youth from the City of Hartford who participated in the contest. “There is no better time to teach financial literacy than with a teen’s first job. The Center for Latino Progress is proud of our student interns for opening bank accounts, learning about budgeting, and committing to financial literacy,” said Yanil Teron, The Center’s Executive Director.

Gov. Dannel Malloy and others briefed on the success of the BEST Chance program, which The Center is a proud provider of. The Center’s Kim Flint, Programs Director, is featured in the video presented during the briefing showcasing the program and its successful re-integration of former offenders.
Prudential Cares Volunteers at The Center

Prudential employees spent the afternoon at the Center for Latino Progress removing old electronics for recycling and boxes of paper for shredding. This was a sizable task and their work was a tremendous help to The Center. Prudential and its employees are wonderful supporters of our organization and we sincerely thank them for all of their hard work and support of our mission!
